Where it is

The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre, 100 Mt Norquay Road. It has two rinks, a curling rink and a fitness room, and it hosts the Town’s public drop-in ice sessions.

Helmets and balance bars are available on request, and skate rentals are available on site, so it is easy to bring a child who is just learning.

Rules and gear

Family skate is a no-book drop-in. Children 11 and under must wear a helmet and be directly supervised by an adult on the ice, even confident skaters.

The pace is deliberately comfortable for children and caregivers, and strollers are permitted. It is a quiet session, so there is room for a child who is still finding their feet.
