Banff Avenue 500 Block closures for Winterstart run, Nov. 7

If you live or park on the 500 Block of Banff Avenue, plan around the closure from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2026.

· From Town of Banff

About 1,000 runners will take over the 500 Block of Banff Avenue on Saturday, November 7, 2026, for the Banff Winterstart 5 Mile Night Run. The race starts at 7 p.m. and heads out of town. It raises money for the young skiers of the Banff Alpine Racers & Bow Valley Quikies.

The Town says detours will be in place before the start and stay until the last runner is back in town.

Access on the 500 Block

Here is how access works on the two northbound lanes of the 500 Block of Banff Avenue:

Who it affects

The closure covers residents with on-street parking on Banff Avenue. It also covers anyone parking off Marmot Street and the Coyote Lane alley. The Town asks you to plan so you are not leaving or returning during that window.

The two lanes on the west side of Banff Avenue, normally southbound, will be split into two-way traffic.

Temporary no-parking restrictions on Marmot Crescent end at 9:30 p.m.

The Town is asking for patience to keep runners and volunteers safe. Reckon it is worth sorting your evening plans early. Full details are in the Town of Banff notice.
